Afton Canyon offers one of the most diverse areas for rock and mineral collectors in all of California. It's also probably my favorite hike.

About the event
Afton Canyon offers one of the most diverse rock and mineral collecting opportunities in all of California. I would consider this to be an intermediate level rockhounding trip, which means we will be hiking for two hours there and two hours back up some steep hills. (3.5 out of 5 difficulty level). Afton canyon iin Clalifornia's Mojave desert will be our location but the exact coordinates for our meeting spot will be given out in the conifrmation email in the form of GPS coordinates so all you have to do is copy and and paste them into google maps.
We will be looking for red and blue jaspers, agate, calcite crystals, and if we get lucky we can even find some Mojave blue agate and green flourite crystals!
What to bring: Water bottle, food or snacks if you would like (just please remember to take any trash out with you).…
