Rockhounding Afton Canyon

Afton Canyon offers one of the most diverse rock and mineral collecting opportunities in all of California. I would consider this to be an intermediate level rockhounding trip, which means we will be hiking for two hours there and two hours back up some steep hills. However, you can always turn back at any time.*

We will be looking for red and blue jaspers, agate, calcite crystals, and if we get lucky we can even find some Mojave blue and yellow agate!

What to bring: Water, sun protection, hiking shoes and weather approrpiate clothing, food and snacks (please remember to pack out all trash), a collecting backpack a hammer or rockpick, a keen eye and a sense of adventure!
